A few officers from the Chicago Police Department heard some strange and very concerning noises while they were outside the building. They decided to investigate the source of the sound but when they entered the building, they saw something that shocked them and made them feel very confused and sad. In that dark abandoned house, living in the depths of shadows, stood two abandoned and skeletal dogs. Yes, two dogs.

The dogs whose names are Emmy and Oscar were both very scared and ill. They were abandoned for quite a while. The police immediately knew what to do and they took the dogs to the Trio Animal Foundation. To help you imagine the damage that they were dealing with, we can just say that that Emmy was a mere 22.4 pounds. She was also anemic. She also had an elevated white blood cell count and a very dangerous and scary level of dehydration. A long road of recovery was in front of both of the dogs!

Emily found a family that took her into their home. She loves her new family and the dog they already have. It's hard to believe that this started with police hearing strange noises!
And Oscar was also taken care of! As you see in the picture, he recovered and even though it took him longer to find a loving and caring family, he found it and received so much attention!
It's hard to imagine how cruel people can be to animals. Sometimes we don't notice the little ones, those who hide in the shadows, those who are scared and abandoned, those, who suffered so much they can't even trust anyone who comes near them. It's amazing that these two animals found their families and their joy!
